More Good Free Ringtone Sites: Free Ringtones & Logos - Can't really have a better name, can it? This one'll cost you one text message, which is stated on the site. The cellphone logos seem to be older version one colour logos for most older Nokia's - should probably work on newer phones, but won't look that nice. The free ringtones are for UK residents only and you need WAP.
More Bad Free Ringtone Sites: In other words, they're probably not free... Ruffneck - Claiming free, charging £1.50 plus for the call :-(
I'm currently researching the possibility of developing flash content for cell phones. Support is still limited, but it's quite widely deployed in the East. Will try and do some animations which can be downloaded for free here... Time to find time...
Another site claiming to offer free polyphonic ringtones, but charging you 3 x £1.50 for your downloads and even subscribing you weekly, something to which you must unsubscribe else you'll pay the same amount weekly for your 'free ringtones' - at least you can select which ringtones you want on a weekly basis. Still some underhanded tactics - free-polyphonic-ringtones -4u.co.uk.
Anyway, a site that seems to be legit is polyphonicringtonez.com/ - you can click their ads if you want and then download free ringtones via WAP.
I have a bone to pick with websites offering free ringtone downloads. The ringtones are aparently free, but you have to text message once or twice to actually order and then confirm ringtone download plus sometimes you have to connect via WAP to download the ringtone. In my mind it's a huge money making scam.
Give me your comments and list sites that you think is unfair in offering free ringtones.
StudentFreeStuff.com offers free ringtones for registration, which is allright, much more legit in my opinion... Ah, it's actually the Samsung Mobile Fun Club and there are free ringtone downloads, GREAT!
I've looked far and below and found this link at the JBForum. There are some free Nextel ringtones for download. I have also decided to make a few myself and will soon post it on my free ringtone downloads and ringtone development page.
I've noticed a trend that these are the most sought after ringtones. SO, if you want some, point your browser to the Nextel Website and enjoy! I'll post it here or on my site if I find any free Nextel ringtones.
I've thought allot about whether MP3 ringtones will replace all proprietory ringtone formats and came to the conclusion that yes, it will probably take over. The thing is just, the mobile ringtone download communities and full-blown companies that have arisen around the ringtone industry will resist. Obvious conclusions in my opinion, but as I've heard it gets 'delayed'. I'll give it another 2 years max before all phones only play MP3, I mean what is the point in having something else? True sound ringtones beats anything else's sox off!
Update (Nov 2006): The service providers are still holding on to their proprietory formats as expected, even with MP3! They're packaging network specific MP3's so you can reload them onto other phones. Have seen this with Verizon, Nextel, T-Mobile and most other large service providers.
Well well well. It seems that we have come of age. You can now convert wav to midi. Check out neuratron.com's AudioScore. Let me know what you think about this! This has big implications for ringtone conversions!!!
For some reason I thought it'd be nice to have a nice heading on the blog and now it replaced my text heading, which is a no-no, so if anyone out there can help me remove the heading image from my free tBlog, so that I can get my text back, shout!!
So in my ignorance I found out that today is president Mbeki's 'state of the nation speech' in Parliament in Cape Town, therefore the other day's shots were the military excersizing their salute to the president. We can look forward to another day of blocked streets in town - and more gunfire, so don't be alarmed :-)
For some reason almost the whole Cape Town was cordoned of yesterday evening by the SAPS (South African Police Service) and South African military and I heard two distinctive 'blasts'. First thoughts was bomb scare with the worst coming true - will do some investigation and let you know what it really was...could have been a standard military excersize...
Ringtones, ADP Ringtones, Samsung Ringtones with free downloads.
I recently helped out a friend with this site - Accommodation Paternoster, West Coast South Africa - which is one of the most beautiful places on the South African West Coast. Tranquil, situated within a nature reserve of Fynbos, South Africa's indemic plants galore, this West Coast Accommodation is the type of place you would visit, off the beaten track, to switch off those city lights...
